For me, painting is closely associated with performance – all that standing and moving against the canvas, waiting and touching. It encompasses demonstration, presentation, gestures. The body is always present when the space of the canvas opens and closes like a flower. The title Frau Blumenstein is the result of an attempt to bestow a name on the temporary temperament of this exhibition.
the rose is an event made of leaves, lightness and darkness, that succumbs to gravity some time after it opens
vegetal gestures: opening, closing
the sun understands them
flowers that remain open to the night
even slight movement gives us away
